The Night Before…

As stated in my first  posting I am going to do my “Big Chop” tomorrow. I am experiencing a lot of emotions and surprisingly there positive. When considering going natural I read and viewed (youtube) a ton of people reviews on their big chops. Some people said they felt “free” like it was an invigorating experience; others were just shocked and they were trying to make the best out of the a bad situation. I hope I have an freeing experience.  I have a sense of peace over my decision. Which tells me that I have made the right decision and because of that I don’t need to be nervous and anxious.

I have wrestled with the decision to go natural for years. In between relaxers I would joke with my boyfriend and say I was going to wear my hair in my natural state and he would say “you mean naturally straight? Like you get it done at the salon” and I would say “yea like that”.  Then the day came when a voice inside me said relaxers are not working for you, it is time to try something different. When I told my boyfriend that I was going to transition he was very supportive. He said “It’s your hair do what makes you happy”. Okay enough about him…

So my plan of action for tomorrow is to take these braids of my head then out I am going to cut off my relaxer.  Wash, deep condition and do my first wash and go! I will have pictures of the whole experience on my next post. Wish me luck!
